Nestled in the heart of the Pierrevert appellation, on the unspoiled heights of Provence, Domaine La Blaque was founded in 1962 by Mr. Ponsemur, who planted the estate's first 50 hectares of vines across his 151-hectare property.
The Origin of the Name
The estate takes its name from a historic locality situated between Pierrevert and Montfuron : La BlaqueOnce home to a large stone building, now in ruins, the site remains an important part of the estate's heritage. The stones from this former structure have even been repurposed in the construction of our new reception venue. Originally, the estate's vineyards were planted exclusively on these high-altitude slopes, reaching nearly 500 metres above sea level. Over time, the vineyard gradually expanded towards Pierrevert, where the heart of the estate is located today.
In 1987, the estate was acquired by Mr. Pampus, who, five years later, entrusted its management to Gilles and Laurence Delsuc, both qualified oenologists and graduates of the University of Dijon.
Today, the vineyard extends across 56 hectares, planted between 420 and 580 metres above sea level, thriving within a remarkably preserved natural environment. This exceptional terroir, combined with altitude and the Provençal climate, brings freshness, balance, and distinctive character to every wine produced at Domaine La Blaque.
